As a lifelong artist, woodworker, carpenter and musician, music has been the soundtrack for my skills. I owe it to music and nature, what they mean to me, to create these instruments.
Growing up in the forest and wooded areas of Wisconsin and Alaska, whispering willows, pines, tamaracks, oaks and maples sway to the breeze, creating a music of their own. Harvesting these trees demands the creation of a musical instrument. The now severed log lives on, the music inside is now liberated.
Searching the woodpiles of harvested lumber, wherever I may find it...in an attic, laying in a field, stranded on a river bank or even for sale at a sawmill, the destiny of that tree is now in my hands. A few of the most beautiful sounding guitars were made from someone's scrap bin - scraps that would've been used for the stove, are now in the hands of musicians and collectors.
